This is actually quite fun, as now you will see every device that has ever been connected to your computer. Now open the View menu and select “Show hidden devices”. You can select and copy the above text into the paste buffer, then right click in the command window and paste it into the command prompt if you like. If you type this command wrong you won’t see an error of any kind, but the process won’t work either.

This sets an environment variable to tell Windows you want to see all the hardware devices, not just the ones that are active. Now, in the command box give the command: If you get this right you will be rewarded with a User Account Control dialogue box warning you that you are about to do something vaguely dangerous. The best way to do this is to click the Start button, type CMD into the search box and then hold down CTRL+SHIFT and press Enter. Open up a new command prompt running in Admin mode. • If you have a set of more up to date drivers that work, please let me know! So these are much older drivers (sadly, no audio drivers). This is basically the same process as listed at except that as of Monday the stable versions of each requisite library would not play nicely with each other (yeah, nothing new there!).

    #Kinect drivers zip file#

This zip file includes a README in the base directory which should tell you the basics of getting it set up, along with the necessary files and an example cpp file. Recently, with the help of a very good friend, I have finally migrated from using the CLNUI Kinect drivers to the OpenNI Windows drivers, which have easy-to-use access to the internal calibration matrix of between the RGB and depth cameras. When I got my Kinect back in December, after several failed attempts with ROS cturtle and OpenNI drivers I gave up and began using the Windows CLNUI drivers and libfreenect Ubuntu drivers.
